COLUMBUS, Ga. – The University of North Georgia (UNG) women's basketball team ended its Peach Belt Conference Tournament run in the semifinals, falling to Georgia College 65-54 at the Lumpkin Center at Columbus State.
North Georgia (19-13, 13-7 PBC) led 18-13 after the first quarter, but Georgia College (14-16, 8-12 PBC) used a dominant third quarter to seize control. The Bobcats outscored the Nighthawks 29-10 in the period to turn a tied halftime game into a double-digit advantage entering the fourth.
Zaynah Preston led North Georgia with 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting while adding four rebounds and four assists. Averie Jones finished with 10 points and eight rebounds, and Ava McGlockton added 10 points and six boards.
The Nighthawks shot 29 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from three-point range. North Georgia stayed within striking distance late, scoring 18 points in the fourth quarter, but was unable to erase the deficit created in the third.
Jaleah Storr contributed five points off the bench, while Maddie Millar and Kiley Graham each added three and two points, respectively.
