DAHLONEGA — A 6-0 rout began the University of North Georgia women's soccer team home schedule, as the Nighthawks handled Emmanuel in front of a large crowd at the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park.
Goals came early and often for UNG, who dominated possession of the ball, almost exclusively holding it on the opponent's side of midfield. Six different Nighthawks scored in the game, with 19 players earning time on the field, adding in two different goalkeepers as

Sierra Fowler in net after the Nighthawks took a 5-0 lead.
Eleven minutes into the first half,
Katey Derkay found the back of the net, kicking off a scoring spree and notching her first goal of the season. Just four minutes later,
Meghan O'Brien added her first goal of the season and the second of the game, giving the Nighthawks a 2-0 lead.
Angie Garcia rounded out the scoring in the first half, earning a goal in the 35th minute as UNG headed into the locker room with a commanding 3-0 lead.
Much of the same came about in the second half as
Adleigh Wheeler ('57th),
Nikki Gomez ('63rd) and
Alexa Aronoff ('72nd) all notched goals in the second half, each scoring their first of the season, helping North Georgia reach the 6-0 final score.
The Nighthawks move to 2-0 on the season with the win, as Emmanuel falls to 0-2.
Next Up
North Georgia will look to keep their momentum rolling, heading north to Tennessee to face Lee on the road. UNG will kick off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday (Sept. 6th) at the Ray Conn Sports Complex in Cleveland, Tenn. Lee holds a record of 1-0-1 after tying against Lenoir Rhyne and winning 3-0 against Carson Newman.
