Box Score AIKEN, S.C. | The University of North Georgia baseball team struggled to get the offense going in the series finale against USC Aiken as the Pacers finished off the three-game sweep with a 10-2 win Sunday afternoon. With the loss, North Georgia slips to 13-12 overall with a 6-9 mark in Peach Belt Conference play.
The Pacers (22-5, 14-4 PBC) scored the first nine runs of the game, scoring in each of the first five innings, highlighted by two RBI doubles and two RBI singles.
North Georgia plated their first run in the top of the sixth scoring on error on a fielder's choice. Trailing 10-1 in the ninth,
Joshua Peterson hit his first home run as a Nighthawk, giving the game its final 10-2 score.
NOTES- Joe Marlow earned his fifth win of the season and remained undefeated after going six innings and striking out six. Daniel McCrary (2-1) was tabbed with the loss after giving up five runs on four hits.
- North Georgia used seven pitchers after McCrary was chased in the second. No pitcher went more than two innings.- Peterson led UNG at the plate going 2-for-3.
- The Nighthawks committed three errors in the game, tying the season high set against Georgia College earlier this month.- The Nighthawks have now lost 10 of the last 14 and nine of the last 11 in conference.
NEXT UPUNG will step out of conference play this Tuesday with a midweek contest against West Georgia on Tuesday, March 22. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
