DAHLONEGA – University of North Georgia (UNG) baseball standout Hunter Thompson has been selected to the 2026 American Baseball Coaches Association NCAA Division II Southeast Region All-Defensive Team, the organization announced.

The regional teams, voted on by ABCA members and selected through the ABCA NCAA Division II All-America & Coach of the Year Committee, recognize the top defensive performers across eight regions.

Thompson earned the honor at first base after posting a .997 fielding percentage, committing just one error in 379 total chances. He recorded 362 putouts and 16 assists on the season while helping turn 21 double plays.

His 362 putouts led the team during the year, anchoring the Nighthawks' infield defense throughout the season.
