MACON, Ga. – The No. 9 University of North Georgia men's tennis team dropped a non-conference road match to No. 25 Hawaii Pacific Friday morning. The Nighthawks fall to 10-5 with the loss but maintain a 2-1 mark in Peach Belt Conference play.
UNG fell behind early in the match, losing the doubles points after a 6-1 loss in the #2 doubles and a 6-0 loss in the #3 doubles contest.
In single play, the Nighthawks were unable to steal a win before the Sharks clinched the victory.
Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) men's singles No. 43 Joaquin Benoit won the first set against No. 56 Robin Sanz 6-2 and dropped the second set 5-7 before the match was called as Hawaii Pacific won elsewhere.
The Sharks took two set wins in the #2, #4 and #5 singles matches to pick up the victory.
The Nighthawks now get ready for another non-conference match on Sunday, Apr. 14. UNG will make the short trip to Atlanta, Ga. to face Emory University. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
