DAHLONEGA — After a wild finish in the second half, the No. 18 University of North Georgia tied 2-2 against No. 11 Flagler at the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park.
Arielle Aronoff provided a spark for the Nighthawks, scoring both of UNG's goals.
A scoreless first half came to a close, with both sides continuing to show off one of the best backlines in NCAA Division II. UNG and Flagler both had their chances but couldn't quite put one in the back of the net.
After the halftime break, the attackers for both sides answered the call, with Flagler opening up the scoring early, with Andrea Fernandez scoring a goal in the 49th minute. As the half rolled on, the Saints looked to be heading to a win, but Aronoff would not be denied, scoring in the 74th minute for the equalizer.
But the junior forward from Dacula, Ga., was not finished, scoring again six minutes later to take the lead using an assist from
Meghan O'Brien. The Saints would answer, after getting a penalty in the box, Fernandez would match Aronoff with her second of the game, tying it for a 2-2 final score.
The Nighthawks continue their unbeaten streak, heading on the road again to face Lenoir Rhyne in non-conference play on Wednesday (Sept. 27th) at 2:00 p.m
