CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- In the team's 2023 season opener, the University of North Georgia men's soccer team fell 3-1 to Lee, with a late goal by
Max Garnett being the lone goal of the game for the Nighthawks.
Lee found itself up 2-0 early in the game after one goal in the opening two minutes, followed by a goal in the 8th minute. It was a physical affair, as both teams received multiple yellow cards, with a final tally of 22 fouls by Lee (1-0) and 17 by North Georgia (0-1).
Fabian Navarro (LEE) earned two assists in the match, continuing his trend from last season as the team's leading assist man in 2022. Garnett scored UNG's first goal of the season in the 73rd minute, winning a header on a cross to get the Nighthawks on the board.
