DAHLONEGA – Twenty-three runs came across the plate in the University of North Georgia baseball team's midweek 15-8 non-conference loss against top-ranked North Greenville at Bob Stein Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park. The Nighthawks answered big innings by the Crusaders with big innings of their own but couldn't limit the runs for NGU, leading to the loss.
Jack Davis has a career night despite the loss, driving in four runs on a team-high three hits and scoring twice in five at-bats. Hitters 7-8-9 came up with most of the offensive firepower in the game for UNG as the bottom of the lineup accounted for seven of the 12 hits, six of the eight runs scored and six of the seven RBIs.
Justin Bailey and
Connor Frost joined Davis, with Bailey hitting seventh and
Connor Frost eighth, as both Nighthawks recorded two hits and two runs.
Connor Frost added two RBIs and two walks, reaching base five times in six trips to the plate.
Defensive mishaps on a rainy day played a key role in the loss for UNG, but a career night in the other dugout added to the damage, as David Lewis (NGU) ended the day with three home runs, accounting for five RBIs.
