AMERICUS, Ga. – A seven-run fifth inning led to the University of North Georgia baseball team falling in the second game of its Peach Belt Conference series at Georgia Southwestern. The Nighthawks looked solid in eight of the nine innings, but the fifth-inning rally by the Hurricanes proved too much to overcome as UNG fell 10-4.
A two-run shot by
Andrews Opata in the fifth inning gave North Georgia their first lead of the series, but the home run awoke the GSW bats as the Hurricanes plated seven of their ten runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Opata was assisted offensively by
Connor Frost as the two accounted for all four runs in the game, both driving in two each.
Connor Frost matched Opata with two hits in the game but reached base three times, drawing a walk in the seventh inning.
Jaret Bales and
Connor Harris proved efficient out of the bullpen, as Bales pitched two innings in relief, allowing no runs on one hit. Harris made his longest appearance of the season, finishing one and two-thirds innings matching Bales' stat line of one hit and no runs allowed.
