AMERICUS, Ga. – The University of North Georgia baseball team fell in its Peach Belt Conference series opener at Georgia Southwestern, 7-0. The Nighthawks fell behind early as the Hurricanes jumped out to a 3-0 lead, holding UNG scoreless the rest of the way to take the lead in the series.
Reid Howard highlighted the night for North Georgia, throwing three scoreless innings in the final three innings striking out three and allowing one hit and
Tim Conway finished as the lone Nighthawk with multiple hits, leading the team in hits with two, earning two singles in the first and ninth innings.
The Hurricanes scored three in the first, one in the third, and two in the fourth, tacking on one in the sixth as Nick McCollum (W, 7-2) threw all nine innings, holding the Nighthawks to no runs. The shutout was just the third time North Georgia was held scoreless this season.
