MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Bobcats pulled away with three runs in the eighth inning, handing the University of North Georgia baseball team a 6-3 loss in the second game of its three-game Peach Belt Conference series. It was only the second time the Nighthawks dropped the second game in any of their nine three-game series this season.
Georgia College opened up the scoring, putting across the first three runs of the game. North Georgia answered with two runs in the top of the seventh, but the Bobcats added three more insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to put the game out of reach.
Jace Bowen and
Brady Skipper each recorded one RBI accounting for two of the three runs for UNG.
Zach Green highlighted the Nighthawks on the hill, throwing three and two-thirds innings of relief, striking out three batters while allowing no runs on three hits.
Andrews Opata finished as the lone Nighthawk with a multi-hit game, recording two hits in four at-bats. North Georgia moves to 18-16 overall and 9-11 in PBC play.
