DAHLONEGA – In its first of two midweek matchups at Bob Stein Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park, the University of North Georgia baseball team defeated Southern Wesleyan 6-1 behind a six-inning shutout from
Daniel Courtney to give the Nighthawks their third straight win.
Jace Bowen highlighted the North Georgia bats, reaching base in all five trips to the plate as the freshman finished with four hits and one walk.
Riley Frost took advantage of being next in the order behind Bowen, earning the team lead in RBIs, with both coming on a two-run shot to left field in the seventh inning to take a 5-0 lead over SWU (7-12).
Jorge Arispuro and
Andrews Opata rounded out the Nighthawks with multiple hits, each reaching base twice on two hits. Opata,
Josh Sosa,
Connor Frost and
Jack Davis added fuel to the fire driving in one run each.
Dylan Noce,
Jacob Lassiat and
Connor Harris came in for a relief appearance allowing just one run in the final three innings.
Next Up
The Nighthawks return to the diamond tomorrow (Mar. 8) to face Catawba, with the first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
