AUGUSTA, Ga. – Matthew Heard had a masterful performance on the mound, throwing a complete game shutout in the University of North Georgia's 9-0 Peach Belt Conference victory to even up the series against Augusta. Head coach
Tom Cantrell earned his 800th victory at North Georgia with the win.
Heard was dominant throughout, allowing just one hit in his nine innings of work, striking out five batters en route to his third victory of the season. It is the first nine-inning complete-game shutout for a North Georgia pitcher this season.
All nine hitters for UNG contributed to the cause, with each batter in the lineup earning one or more hits.
Riley Frost led the way, driving in three runs and scoring two of his own in a three-hit performance.
The top of the lineup was responsible for much of the production, with the first three batters in the lineup accounting for eight of the Nighthawks' 15 hits.
Jace Bowen finished with three hits in the second spot in the order, and
Jorge Arispuro reached base three times at the leadoff spot, earning a walk and two hits while scoring two runs.
Connor Frost finished second on the team in RBIs driving in the first two runs of the day by way of a single to right center field.

Andrews Opata and
Jack Davis all contributed to the run support driving, each driving in one run.
