BEAUFORT, S.C. – A seven-run second inning helped lift the University of North Georgia baseball team to a 15-9 victory over USC Beaufort (12-18, 5-13 PBC) in their Peach Belt Conference series finale matchup against the Sandsharks. USCB attempted to mount a comeback, but the Nighthawks lineup continued to press, keeping USCB out of reach.
The bottom half of the order did most of the damage, with
Josh Sosa and
Jack Davis driving in three runs each in the 8-9 spots of the order. Sosa and Davis benefitted from the plate discipline of
Justin Bailey and
Mason Steel, who both drew two walks in the game.
Tim Conway and
Connor Frost added two RBIs to the cause, while
Edwin Bowman IV continued to find holes in the defense, finishing with a team-high three hits. All but two Nighthawks in the lineup recorded a walk in the game, and the lineup took advantage finishing with 17 hits that included six doubles and one homerun by Sosa.
