COLUMBUS, Ga. – An overwhelming offensive output handed the University of North Georgia baseball team a 15-4 Peach Belt Conference loss against No. 6 Columbus State to give the Nighthawks their first series loss since mid-February.
The Nighthawks scored first with
Connor Frost driving in
Riley Frost, but a seven-run third inning for Columbus State put UNG in a hole early. North Georgia countered with a three-run top of the fourth, highlighted by
Edwin Bowman IV and
Josh Sosa, each driving in a run using left-field singles.
The Cougars added two in the bottom half and three runs each in the sixth and seventh to end with an 11-run victory. Bowman IV continued to heat up at the plate, leading the team with two hits. Six different Nighthawks earned hits in the game, with Bowman IV finishing with the lone multi-hit performance on the day.
Jace Bowen drew two walks, reaching base twice in four trips to the plate.

The Nighthawks continue their road trip, facing West Florida for two games on Tuesday (Mar. 12) and Wednesday (Mar. 13) before returning home for a three-game weekend PBC series against Lander on March 17-19 at Bob Stein Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park.
