DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia women's basketball team took down another top 10 ranked opponent in its 73-72 Peach Belt Conference victory over tenth-ranked Georgia Southwestern in Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center.
Niyah Lutz scored her 1,000th collegiate point and led the team in scoring with 15 points, adding eight rebounds.
Caroline Martin finished with a double-double scoring 14 points with 12 rebounds while dishing out five assists.
Josie Earnhardt was a threat from deep for UNG, making four of her eight attempts from behind the arc to finish with 14 points.
Isabel Davenport finished with a career-high 11 points making three of her seven attempts from beyond the arc.
The win moves UNG to 15-6 on the season, and 7-5 in Peach Belt Conference play.

- GSW (17-4, 9-3 PBC) opened up the game with the first five points before an answer by the Nighthawks tied the game at 13 to end the first quarter.
- North Georgia outscored GSW 9-3 to open up the second quarter taking a 22-16 lead at the 5:53 mark. The Hurricanes answered with a 7-0 run two minutes later, taking a 36-35 lead into the halftime break. There were nine total lead changes in the second quarter.
- The Hurricanes stretched the lead out to eight with 3:43 remaining in the game after scoring six straight points.
- UNG stormed back by scoring six straight to end the game with a Lutz putback layup to take the 73-72 lead with ten seconds remaining.

The Nighthawks will head to Clayton State for the road portion of their two-game regular season series. UNG defeated Clayton State 80-71 in their home matchup on Jan. 11. Clayton State is coming off a 68-50 loss to Young Harris.
