DAHLONEGA – A high-powered offensive performance by the University of North Georgia baseball team led the way in its series-clinching victory over Mars Hill (0-3). The Nighthawks defeated MHU 10-2 using a five-run seventh inning to break the game open.
Both sides put runners across the plate in the first before
Dylan Noce threw two scoreless innings in the second and third. The Nighthawks would take the lead and add insurance, scoring three runs in the bottom of the third. Mars Hill would get one back in the fourth, but the trio of
Zach Green (1-0),
Ben Koch and
Jack Emacio would shut down the MHU lineup for the day.
Connor Frost drove three runs in on the day using a single in the third inning and a double in the seventh.
Jace Bowen continued his production from the season opener, using a single up the middle to drive in a pair.
Big Innings
3rd: Josh Sosa drove in the first of three runs in the inning with a single to left field.
Connor Frost's single to right field drove in Levensteins and
Riley Frost to take a 4-1 lead.
7th: Back-to-back doubles from Jorge Arispruo and
Connor Frost turned the three-run lead into a five-run lead before Bown and
Riley Frost tacked on a few more to make it 10-2.
