DAHLONEGA – Pierce Williams (1-1) threw 7 1/3 innings allowing just one hit and no runs in the University of North Georgia baseball team's 2-0 win over Young Harris (10-4, 4-1) in the second game of the series.
Williams finished with seven strikeouts and did not give up a hit until the top of the sixth inning. The Nighthawks put across one run in the third, using a
Riley Frost single to score
Justin Bailey.
Edwin Bowman IV gave the Nighthawks a slight cushion, using a sacrifice bunt in the seventh to make it a 2-0 game.
Brady Skipper had a solid day at the plate, getting three hits on four at-bats.
Jacob Lassiat,
Daniel Courtney, and
Ben Koch (1) all finished the final 1 2/3 innings in relief, completing the shutout against YHC.
The win marks the first in Peach Belt Conference play this season, and the Nighthawks move to 5-6 overall.
