Nighthawks Roll to Victory Over Lees-McRae at Home

DAHLONEGA — Winning their fourth straight game, the University of North Georgia women's basketball team defeated Lees-McRae 91-41 at Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center, using a potent attack inside the paint to move to 4-1 on the season.

Emily Trushel led the way in points, scoring 20 and grabbing six rebounds in 27 minutes of action. Dasha Cannon logged a double-double, wrapping up the first half one rebound shy before finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds. 

Ansley Hall was the main facilitator on the floor for the Nighthawks, leading the team in assists with seven and adding 11 points. Livi Blackstock (11) and Kendall Emener (10) rounded out the double-digit scorers for UNG, adding in efficient scoring off the bench.

The Nighthawks shot 56% from the floor, scoring 60 points inside the paint in contrast to just 22 for Lees-Mcrae. Earning an advantage in the paint, North Georgia struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 3-16 from three.

Next up for UNG is a premier matchup against fourth-ranked Catawba on Monday (Nov. 27) at 6:00 p.m. Catawba holds a 3-0 record, defeating Chowan 79-62.
