YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — Beginning their season in the Peach Belt/Conference Carolinas Challenge, the University of North Georgia women's basketball team fell 77-69 in Young Harris, Ga. The Nighthawks attempted a late rally but couldn't complete the comeback.
A poor night shooting from beyond the arc was key in the North Georgia loss, making just six of their 33 attempts.
Ansley Hall led the way in scoring in her first game in the North Georgia uniform, scoring 18 points on 7-15 shooting, adding three assists.
Carly Fahey finished second on the Nighthawks in scoring, shooting 50% from the field with three assists and two rebounds. Kendell Emener had an efficient night on the floor, going 3-5 from the field with six rebounds and two assists.
Dasha Cannon tied for third on the team in scoring, taking seven steals in the game, a career-high. The Nighthawks found themselves in foul trouble, with three different UNG players fouling out in the game.
Next up for the Nighthawks is a 2:00 p.m. matchup against Young Harris tomorrow (Nov. 10). The Mountain Lions face Georgia College in the nightcap at the four-team event for their season opener.
