DAHLONEGA — In a battle between two well-matched sides, the University of North Georgia men's soccer team finished with a scoreless draw against Lander at the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park. Neither side was able to find a goal, as
Hazel Ley made four clutch saves in the game to keep the Bearcats in check.
Lander finished with nine shots, four on goal in the game, with Ley having to stand tall for those four on goal to keep LU scoreless. North Georgia managed three shots on goal and five overall.
The Bearcats created many chances in the first half, with the Nighthawk using a quality-over-quantity philosophy, putting all but two shots on net. Lander dealt with the UNG opportunities, earning their second clean sheet of the season, with North Georgia earning their third.
The Nighthawks move to 4-5-2 on the season, ending a two-game losing skid with the draw against Lander. North Georgia will host Georgia Southwestern on Saturday (Oct. 7) in their next game, with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m.
