SALISBURY, N.C. — In a marquee matchup featuring two of the top teams in the Southeast Region, the University of North Georgia women's soccer team fell in non-conference play to second-ranked Catawba, taking the first halftime lead against Catawba this season.
Natalie Maguire, off an assist from
Arielle Aronoff, got the Nighthawks on the board taking a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute as Catawba faced their first deficit of the season.
The now 11-0 Indians proved their ranking, answering just after the halftime break to grab the equalizer in the 47th minute. It was the 14th goal of the season for Sydney Jimmo (Catawba) as Jimmo started to heat up, adding an assist on Helen Summerell's (Catawba) game winning goal in the 63rd minute.
North Georgia takes their second loss of the season, moving to 8-2-2 on the year. Next for North Georgia is a home match against Albany State on Saturday (Oct. 14) at the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park. The Rams hold a 1-8-1 record, struggling in the 2023-24 campaign but have tied one and won one in their four last outings.
