YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - Jorge Arispuro hit a homer over the left field wall in the 12th inning to give the University of North Georgia baseball team the lead for good in a 6-5 win over Young Harris Friday night.
Jake Arnold got the scoring started for North Georgia in the second with a solo homer before
Nik Levensteins brought home a second run on a sacrifice fly in the third to take an early 2-0 lead. Young Harris scored a pair in the fourth to tie the game, but UNG retook the lead in the fifth on an Arnold sacrifice fly to push the score to 3-2.
After Young Harris scored two in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for the first time, Levensteins tied it right back up in the seventh with a solo bomb.
Crews Taylor pushed the Nighthawks back out in front in the eighth with a RBI single, but the Mountain Lions would homer in the eighth to tie the score at 5-5 and force extra innings. Arispuro's solo homer with two outs in the 12th was the difference as Arnold worked out of two jams in extras on the mound to secure the win.
NOTES
- Arispuro led the way for UNG at the plate, going 3-for-6.
- Arnold improved to 3-0 on the mound this year, tossing 5.2 innings of relief and fanning seven.
- YHC committed four errors in the game.
