GREENWOOD, S.C. - The 25th-ranked University of North Georgia baseball team won a shootout Sunday at Lander, 14-10, to finish the PBC series on top.
Lander scored a pair in the bottom of the first before North Georgia tied it up in the second, scoring on RBI singles from
Riley Frost and
Will Hardigree. UNG extended the lead over the next two innings, using a
Jake Arnold sacrifice fly in the third to take a 3-2 lead before back-to-back-to-back solo homers in the fourth from
Crews Taylor,
Tim Conway and
Nik Levensteins. Lander would take the lead with two runs in the fourth and three in the sixth.
UNG answered in the eighth inning with a two run homer from Taylor, followed by another sac fly from Arnold to retake the lead, 9-7. The Bearcats scored three in the eighth to push back in front, but the Nighthawks answered with five in the ninth off a Taylor two run double and a three run shot from
Kaleb Freeman to get to the final score.
NOTES
- Taylor finished the day 3-for-6 with five RBI. Freeman, Arnold and Frost each had two hits.

Eddie Galatas (2-0) earned the win, pitching a one hit inning in relief. Eight Nighthawks saw action on the mound in the contest.
