No. 3 Women's Basketball Upset by Georgia Southwestern, 62-59

AMERICUS, Ga. - The No. 3 University of North Georgia women's basketball team lost their first game in nearly two months as they fell to Georgia Southwestern, 62-59, Saturday afternoon.

The Nighthawks and Hurricanes were tied at 22 after one before a slow second quarter but UNG behind by two at the break. North Georgia came out quickly in the third quarter, scoring 10 of the first 12 points in the second half to take the advantage.

UNG stretched the lead out to 10 on three occasions, including with eight minutes to play at 57-47 before the Hurricanes finished the game on a 15-2 run to upset the Nighthawks on their home floor.

NOTES
- Caroline Martin led the way for UNG with 16 points, while Julianne Sutton had another double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Sutton now sits at 1,999 points for her career.

- Jamari McDavid had 12 points, and Abbie Franklin added 10, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double.

- North Georgia had 27 turnovers in the contest that GSW converted into 31 points.
