DAHLONEGA – The third-ranked University of North Georgia women's basketball team came away with a 77-75 non-conference victory in a tough battle versus King in their non-conference matchup on Monday (Nov. 28) in Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center.
Kaylee Sticker (21) and
Caroline Martin (20) led the Nighthawks in scoring and rebounding as the duo grabbed 11 and 12 rebounds respectively to complete the pair of double-doubles.
Sticker and Martin were the main contributors in a sluggish game for North Georgia.
Josie Earnhardt finished with 11 points as the only other Nighthawk to join the pair in double-digit scoring.
Carly Fahey was the primary facilitator for North Georgia, recording six assists in the game.
The trio of Sticker, Martin and Earnhardt made a combined seven threes in 19 attempts that allowed the Nighthawks to keep within striking distance in the first half.

- Both teams traded baskets early in the first quarter before King went on a 7-0 run to take a 15-9 lead with 2:11 left in the first quarter.
- The Nighthawks shot 45% from beyond the arc in the first half to help UNG get a three point hafltime lead.
- A 7-0 run in the third quarter with 4:01 on the clock pushed North Georgia to a 55-50 lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
- Lacie McCoy scored four straight points at the 8:12 mark to take a 10-point lead. The Nighthawks would stretch the lead to its largest of the night four minutes later with an Earnhardt three to make it a 71-58 game.
- King (1-5) would answer in the final four minutes with a 14-3 run to make it a 74-72 game with 17 seconds remaining.
- A steal and two made free throws by McCoy with nine seconds remaining would put the game out of reach.
Next Up
North Georgia (6-0) will face Carson-Newman (3-4) on the road on Saturday, Dec. 3 for their second matchup against the Eagles this season. UNG defeated C-N at the UNG Nighthawk Classic, 76-70 in their first meeting this season. The Eagles were ranked ninth in the country but have dropped to No. 17 in the WBCA polls after losing four straight games.
