OXFORD, Ala. – The University of North Georgia women's track team posted six first place finishes en route to placing fifth out of seven predominately Division I schools at the Jacksonville State Gamecock Quad at Choccolocco Park.
Aleah Johnson's time of 58.17 was tops in the White Division (DII and DIII) standings of the 400 meters.
For the second consecutive race,
Brittany Truitt was the top finisher in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.
Sarah Buckler (2:23) and
Caitlin Connell (2:34) rounded out the top three spots for the Nighthawks.
UNG also notched the top three finishers in the 1500 meters led by
Emily Sims time of 4:57. Teammates Connell (5:09) and
Brianna Moring (5:19) also finished on the podium.
The 5000 meter race was dominated by the Nighthawks as the first six finishers were all from UNG.
Makayla Ellis crossed the line first with a time of 18:59.
In the pole vault,
Mary Owen Howell was the top White Division vaulter as she cleared 7'6.5".
The North Georgia 4x400 relay team of Truett,
Elizabeth Mullenax,
Sarah Whittington and Johnson rounded out the first place finishers for head coach
Tom Williams's quad with a mark of 4:12.
West Georgia won the overall team title with 227 points, followed by Jacksonville State (203), Georgia State (188), Clark Atlanta (154), North Georgia (132), Austin Peay (94) and UT Chattanooga (32).
North Georgia returns to the track on Mar. 24-25 at the Emory Track & Field Classic in Atlanta.
