Named co-Newcomer of the Year in the Georgia Alabama Carolinas Conference in the 1995-96 season, Gibson helped lead the then-Saints to a GACC regular season and tournament championship in the same season. North Georgia then made a trip to the only national tournament in the last two and a half decades. Gibson still holds the all-time single season record at North Georgia for three pointers made with 104 and is tied atop the single game record for the same statistic with nine against Voorhees back in 1996. After his playing career, Gibson served on the men's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach.
