CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The No. 4 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team opened play at the 3rd Annual Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase with a 6-1 victory over No. 20 Lee on Monday at the Champions Club Tennis Complex at Rivermont Park.

North Georgia claimed the doubles point by winning two of three matches. The Nighthawks struck first at No. 3 doubles, where Victoria Niox-Chateau and Sofia Giraldo rolled to a 6-0 win over Nicolette Fuhr and Jasmine Ibegbulam.

Lee evened doubles with a 6-2 victory at the top position, but the point was secured at No. 2 doubles as Emily Bush and Linn Goerdes battled to a 7-5 win over Aliyah Dwyer and Maria Fernanda Duarte to give UNG a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

North Georgia carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of six matches to seal the team victory.

Victoria Niox-Chateau delivered the first singles win of the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 6, giving the Nighthawks a 2-0 lead. Shortly after, No. 29 Olesya Stokusova defeated No. 52 Aliyah Dwyer, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 3 singles to extend the advantage.

The clinching point came from Sofia Giraldo at No. 2 singles. Facing No. 39 Andrea Pascual Blanca, Giraldo secured the match with a 6-4, 6-2 victory to give the Nighthawks the decisive fourth point.

Louise Rey added another straight sets win at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-1, while Linn Goerdes closed out the day with a 6-0, 7-5 victory at No. 4. Lee's lone point came at the top of the lineup, where No. 15 Anastasiia Opolska fell to Rima Yoshida in straight sets.
