LENOIR CITY, Tenn. – Hunter Smith's fifth-place individual finish earned him a spot on the all-tournament team as the No. 10 University of North Georgia (UNG) men's golf team placed eighth at the Tennessee River Rumble, hosted by Lincoln Memorial.
No. 5 Wingate claimed both the team and individual titles, carding a three-round total of 863 (281-290-292). The Bulldogs were led by tournament champion Lewis Beedin, who shot an 11-under 205 (63-79-69).
Smith paced the Nighthawks in the final round with a 1-under 71. His three-round total of 216 secured a tie for fifth and all-tournament honors.
Grant Langford posted a 76 in the final round, while Colby Bennett and Kai Marko each carded 77 to round out North Georgia's scoring. The Nighthawks shot a 13-over 301 in the third round.
Drew Sutherland finished with a 79.
Competing as individuals, Garrett Horton and Jack Rowe each recorded rounds of 74, while Rhett Smith added a 76.
North Georgia returns to action March 30-31 at the UWF Argonaut Invitational in Pensacola, Florida, its final tournament of the regular season.
