No. 10 Nighthawks Sit Seventh After Day One at Tennessee River Rumble

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. – The No. 10 University of North Georgia (UNG) men's golf team sits in seventh place after two rounds at the Tennessee River Rumble, hosted by Lincoln Memorial. The Nighthawks posted a two-round score of 587 (+11), trailing tournament leader Wingate by 16 strokes heading into the final round.

North Georgia opened the day with a 295 (+7) in round one before improving to a 292 (+4) in round two.

Grant Langford led the Nighthawks with a 36-hole score of 144 (71-73), good for 10th place individually. Hunter Smith followed closely, sitting 15th after rounds of 74 and 71, while Colby Bennett is tied for 19th after posting scores of 72 and 74. The trio gives North Georgia three golfers inside the top 20.

Langford paced the squad in round one with a 71 (-1), while Bennett carded an even-par 72 and Smith added a 74 (+2). Kai Marko rounded out the team scoring with a 78 (+6).

In round two, Smith led the way with a 71 (-1), followed by Langford's 73 (+1). Bennett recorded a 74 (+4), while Marko improved to a 74 (+2).

Drew Sutherland rebounded from an opening-round 89 (+17) to post a 74 (+2) in round two. Competing as individuals, Garrett Horton (73-76), Jack Rowe (78-75) and Rhett Smith (79-73) all turned in solid performances, with Rowe highlighting his day with an eagle on the 14th hole in the opening round.

The Nighthawks will close out the tournament Tuesday with the final round set to begin at 9 a.m.
