GREENWOOD, S.C. - The University of North Georgia women's basketball team dropped it second straight Peach Belt Conference road game with a 71-48 loss at Lander on Wednesday.

The Nighthawks (10-5, 3-2 Peach Belt) had two players score in double figures, led by Kendall Emener, who had 12 points. Lexi Pierce added 12 points and three steals and Emily Trushel added six points and eight rebounds.

Emener pulled down three offensive rebounds to pace an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for North Georgia, grabbing 12 boards and turning them into five second chance points.

North Georgia struggled out of the gate, falling behind 18-11 at the end of the first quarter and could only muster six second quarter points.

Lander continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 49-24 advantage before North Georgia went on a 10-0 run to trim its deficit to 49-34 with 39 seconds to go in the third. Lander countered and stretched its lead to 51-34 heading into the fourth despite UNG outscoring the Bobcats 17-12 in the period.
The Nighthawks were plagued by 26 turnovers and 3-of-16 (19%) from behind the three-point line.
Wykira Johnson-Kelly led three Lander players in double figures with a game-best 18 points and six assists.
North Georgia will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 20 with a home game against Peach Belt newcomer USC Beaufort. Tip is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center.
