No. 19 North Georgia Gets Back in Win Column, Defeats Clayton State 1-0

MORROW, Ga. — Picking up its sixth win of the season, the No. 19 University of North Georgia women's soccer team defeated Clayton State 1-0 in its road Peach Belt Conference matchup. The back line of North Georgia returned to form, outdueling the Lakers in a low-scoring 1-0 battle.

Meghan O'Brien, off an assist from Arielle Aronoff, was the difference in the match, scoring the lone goal in the 63rd minute to take the lead. The Nighthawks would hold it till the end, recording the sixth shutout of the season, winning each of those games.

Sierra Fowler picked up the clean sheet, facing nine second-half shots and 11 total, making six saves in the second half. Aronoff's assist to O'Brien was the return favor for O'Brien's two-assist game against Flagler, both on Aronoff goals.

The Nighthawks move to 6-1-2 on the season, holding the 19th ranking in NCAA Division II, while facing a demanding road schedule. North Georgia will continue their run on the road, next heading to South Carolina to face Lander on Wednesday (Oct. 7) at 7:00 p.m. Lander holds a 6-2 record, ending a two-game losing skid in their win over Georgia Southwestern.
