COLUMBUS, Ga. – In a tight 4-3 result the No. 22 University of North Georgia men's tennis team fell to #27 Augusta (16-8) in the Peach Belt Conference quarterfinals.
The Nighthawks took the doubles point winning two sets and on their way to a third, to take a 1-0 lead.
Daniel Ostap and
Giulio Sassi wrapped up the second flight quickly, taking a 6-1 doubles victory while
Eliseo Alcalde and
Robin Eldin clinched the point with a 6-2 result in the third flight.
Joaquin Benoit and
Cole Brainard led 5-2 in their match before the Nighthawks clinched the point.
Benoit continued to roll, taking a 6-4, 6-2 straight set victory to make it a 2-0 lead. Augusta would take the next three flights to storm back, taking a 3-2 lead with two flights to play.
Robin Eldin picked up a 7-6, 6-3 victory to even it at 3-3 but the Jaguars were able to take the final point, advancing to the PBC Semifinal round to face Columbus State.

The Nighthawks will await the NCAA Tournament selection show results on Monday (Apr. 24) at 8:00 p.m. hoping to earn their ninth NCAA Regional bid in program history.
