WINTER PARK, Fla. – The No. 12 University of North Georgia (UNG) men's tennis team came up just short on the road Sunday, falling 4-2 to No. 11 Rollins in a tightly contested nonconference matchup.

North Georgia found itself in an early hole after Rollins secured the doubles point, winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The Nighthawks' lone doubles victory came at No. 3, where Marcos Castellanos and Franco Rebora earned a 6-4 win.

In singles play, the Nighthawks responded with a pair of strong performances to keep the match within reach. No. 5 Pedro Liborio delivered a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles, defeating No. 7 Lawson Prather 6-4, 6-2. Ben Brandl followed with a dominant showing at No. 4, cruising to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Richard Stoiberer.

However, Rollins clinched the match with wins at No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Castellanos fell in straight sets at No. 2, while Rebora dropped a 7-5, 6-4 decision at No. 5. At No. 6, Eliseo Alcalde was defeated in straight sets.

The match at No. 3 singles, featuring João Luis Silva, went unfinished.

North Georgia will return to action April 3, hosting Lander in Peach Belt Conference play at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.
