DAHLONEGA – Against the fourth-ranked team in NCAA Division II, the No. 18 University of North Georgia men's tennis team fell 6-1 in its Peach Belt Conference home match against Columbus State at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park.
Joaquin Benoit and
Cole Brainard took the opening doubles point 6-1, but the Nighthawks fell in the next two doubles flights to fall into a 1-0 deficit.
Benoit fell 4-6, 6-2, 2-6 in a battle against the top-ranked player in NCAA DII, Santiago Perez (CSU).
Giulio Sassi earned North Georgia's lone match win, taking a 7-5, 7-6 victory, winning the tiebreaker 7-3.
Robin Eldin came up short in his tiebreaker third set, falling 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6).
Next Up
The Nighthawks will wrap up their regular season on the road against Georgia College. North Georgia is scheduled to play on Saturday (April 15th) for a 1:00 p.m. start time in Milledgevillle.
