PENSACOLA, Fla. – Seven runs in the final three innings for the University of North Georgia baseball team was enough to help secure the two-game sweep over West Florida (11-10), as the Nighthawks took a 7-3 midweek win versus the Argonauts. North Georgia did all their damage in the seventh, eighth and ninth, scoring two runs in the seventh and eighth before adding three insurance runs in the ninth.
The offensive production was spread throughout the lineup, with six Nighthawks recording hits, but only two,
Riley Frost (2) and
Josh Sosa (2), reached the multi-hit mark. Sosa's two hits came with two RBIs with two clutch singles with runners in scoring position.
Jace Bowen showed patience at the plate, drawing two walks and recording a hit of his own, scoring once in the game.
Justin Bailey,
Connor Frost and
Brady Skipper were the other three Nighthawks to get a hit in the game, with
Justin Bailey driving in a run in the ninth with a right-field single.
It was a bullpen day for the Nighthawks as six North Georgia pitchers entered the game.
Dylan Noce was the anchor for UNG, throwing three and two-thirds in relief while allowing no runs on three hits.
Pete Weil (W, 1-0) earned the win, coming in to clean up the seventh inning before the Nighthawks went on their run.
Eddie Galatas picked up his first save of the year, getting the final out in the ninth with the tying run at the plate.

The Nighthawks return to Bob Stein Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series against Lander (7-16, 4-5 PBC) beginning on Friday (Mar. 17). First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
