SALISBURY, N.C. – The University of North Georgia women's basketball team completed its season at the NCAA Southeast Regional opening round, falling to second-seeded Wingate 72-53 in quarterfinal round action. Finding open shots for the seventh-seeded Nighthawks was a struggle, with Wingate using their size advantage to contest shots in the lane.
Caroline Martin led the team in scoring and rebounds, finishing with 16 points and nine rebounds, five on the offensive end.
Niyah Lutz finished second in scoring, with 14 points adding six rebounds and four steals. The Nighthawks won the turnover battle, getting 11 steals as a team, and outrebounded Wingate grabbing 19 offensive rebounds.
North Georgia finished their season at 19-11 overall and made the program's sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
