DAHLONEGA – In the first home match of the spring season, the No. 11 University of North Georgia men's tennis team defeated Carson Newman 6-1 at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park, taking two of three in doubles and five of six in singles.
Joaquin Benoit got his second win of the season in the top spot for UNG.
Cole Brainard and Benoit added another win to their doubles record to move to 2-0 on the season. Benoit,

Daniel Ostap and
Robin Eldin all chipped in for the victory by winning their singles match. Four of the five Nighthawks won in straight sets, with Eldin winning in the tiebreaker (7-6) and Sassi closing it down with a 6-1 victory in their second sets.
Next Up
The Nighthawks move to 2-0 on the season and will head on the road to face Anderson (4-0) on Saturday (Feb. 11) at 1 p.m. The Trojans are coming off a 5-2 victory over Converse on Saturday (Feb. 4). It will be the Trojans' second match of the spring season.
