BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The No. 11 University of North Georgia men's tennis team fell 4-1 at NCAA Division I opponent Gardner-Webb (5-2). The Nighthawks grabbed a point in the doubles matches but failed to add another, falling in four singles matches.
Eliseo Alcalde and
Giulio Sassi clinched the doubles point with a 7-6 victory in the third flight, with
Daniel Ostap and
Robin Eldin winning 6-4 in the second flight to make it 1-1 after a 6-1 loss by
Joaquin Benoit and
Cole Brainard. An Eldin loss in singles 2-6, 6-7 loss in the fifth flight ended the Nighthawks' chances for a comeback in the final match of the day.
