DAHLONEGA – After opening up with a 6-0 lead in the series finale, the University of North Georgia baseball team could not hold off a surge by Florida Southern, falling 7-6 in the third game of the series at Bob Stein Stadium and Lynn Cottrell Park. The Nighthawks did most of their damage in the second inning, scoring five runs after drawing four consecutive walks to begin the inning.
Jacob Lassiat held his own in his five innings of work. Lassiat threw 4 and one third scoreless before running into a bit of trouble, allowing two earned runs before escaping the inning with a 6-2 lead. The Nighthawks continued to show patience in the box, drawing seven walks in the game.

Nik Levensteins led the team in walks, both driving in one run on one hit.
Florida Southern scored all seven of their runs in the final five innings. The Mocs scored two in the fifth before scoring one in each of the following three innings. In the top of the ninth, with two outs, a two-run double by Drew Cavanaugh (FSC) put FSC ahead 7-6 before Colin Camarigg (1-0) closed out his four-inning performance earning the win.

The Nighthawks jump into Peach Belt Conference play with a three-game home series against USC Aiken (3-0) at Bob Stein Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park. The first pitch is scheduled for Friday (Feb. 17) at 4 p.m.
