BRISTOL, Tenn. – Fueled by a school-record 31 assists, the University of North Georgia women's basketball team ran away from King 103-44 in non-conference action on Monday evening. UNG ended the first quarter on a 16-2 run and would never look back en route to the Nighthawks' first time cresting the century mark this season sixth victory overall.
Kendall Emener came off the bench to lead four Nighthawks in double figures with a game-high 20 points on a perfect 9-for-9 from the floor. Emener's perfect shooting evening etched her way into the UNG records book as she matches the single game field goal percentage record held by Deana Blankinship (12-for-12 versus Lander on 3/4/18).
Dasha Cannon added a line of 17 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists while
Lexi Pierce (13 points) and
Ansley Hall (10 points) rounded out North Georgia's double figure scorers. Pierce added a game-high eight assists.
North Georgia held a decisive 58-18 advantage in points in the paint and the Nighthawk defense forced 30 Tornado turnovers. The win improves North Georgia to 6-1 overall while King falls to 1-7.
North Georgia returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 9 with a home game against 12
th-ranked Tampa at Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center. The game is set to tip off at 1:30 p.m. as the first of a full day of basketball as part of the Ross Morkem Memorial.
