DAHLONEGA - The University of North Georgia baseball team fell Sunday to No. 3 Columbus State, 11-1, in seven innings.
The Cougars came out quickly, scoring in the second inning to jump start their offense with a two run homer, taking the early advantage. CSU scored on a wild pitch in the third before a triple in the fourth plated two more to extend the lead to 5-0. Columbus State continued in the fourth inning with a RBI single.
The fifth inning kept the scoring going for CSU as the Cougars used another triple to score two more and take an 8-0 lead. After a Nighthawk error moved the score to 9-0, Columbus State got RBI singles in the sixth and seventh to take an 11-0 lead before North Georgia scored in the bottom of the seventh on a
Jake Arnold RBI double that brought the game to its final score.
NOTES
- Columbus State stole five bases on the day to go with their 12 hits.
- CSU's Colton Joyner went the distance, allowing just four UNG hits and one walk while striking out six.
