ROME, Ga. - The University of North Georgia track & field team wrapped up the season opening Victor Icebreaker Duals Saturday with
Claire Mills and
Journey Gurley finish atop the leaderboard in their respective events.
Mills led five Nighthawks in the top 10 in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a 12:04.98, less than a half second faster than teammate
Emily McBride.
Anna Chasteen finished in fourth,
Devin Helms in seventh and
Ashley Pope in ninth in the same event.
Gurley won the pole vault, clearing 4.05 meters. She also finished fourth in the high jump at 1.47 meters.
Other top finishers included
Emery Ryan in the 400 (4th, 1:02.06),
Ella Stoudenmire in the 1500 (3rd, 5:01.94), and the A team in the 4x400 relay (3rd, 4:18.54).
The Nighthawks will be back in action next weekend at the Gem of the Hills Challenge.
