DAHLONEGA - Four Nighthawks finished in double figures as the No. 5 University of North Georgia women's basketball team opened up the Southeast Regional with a 63-42 win over Columbus State Friday evening inside the UNG Convocation Center.
North Georgia led wire-to-wire, but the Cougars hung around, trailing by just six points at the break. The Nighthawks opened the second half on a 12-0 run to pull away for good, continuing the streak of six straight NCAA opening round wins in program history.

Jamari McDavid led UNG in the scoring column with 18 points, while
Julianne Sutton had a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Josie Earnhardt had 11, and
Kayla Massop finished with 10.
- North Georgia outscored CSU in the paint, 38-16.
- In the other three quarterfinals, third-seeded Georgia Southwestern defeated Barton, second-seeded Lander outscored Catawba and fifth-seeded Carson-Newman upset Wingate.
