DAHLONEGA - After tying the game in the bottom of the ninth, the No. 19 University of North Georgia baseball team fell in extra innings Saturday to Queens, 5-4.
North Georgia struck the scoreboard first as
Tim Conway doubled, plating the game's first run in the bottom of the third, but the Royals answered in the top half of the fourth, scoring twice on a triple followed by a RBI groundout to give Queens their first lead of the weekend.
The Nighthawks tied the game in the fifth off a
Crews Taylor RBI single before QU retook the lead in the sixth on a RBI single that plated two. After UNG cut the lead to one on a
Will Hardigree RBI groundout in the bottom of the sixth,
Riley Frost tied the game in the bottom of the ninth with a solo homer to left. Queens scored the winning run in the 12th on a double and held UNG to runners on the corners in the bottom half of the inning to secure the win.
NOTES
- UNG has lost each of the last six games that have gone to extra innings.
- Frost went 3-for-4 at the plate, needing a double to complete the cycle. Taylor and
Kaleb Freeman each had two-hit games.
