ATLANTA - University of North Georgia women's basketball player
Julianne Sutton was named to the WBCA Coaches' All-American Honorable Mention list, the association announced Monday morning. The junior was one of just two PBC players to be named to the All-American list, joining Lander's Tabitha Dailey.
Sutton, a junior from Flowery Branch, Georgia, was named a D2CCA first team All-Region player, a first team All-Peach Belt honoree and the league's Player of the Year. Sutton led the Peach Belt Conference in scoring with 18.3 points per game this season, a number that rose to 19.4 against league opponents. She scored in double figures in every game this year and finished third in the league in field goal percentage. A PBC Player of the Week on February 10, Sutton was also sixth in the league in blocks, had four double-doubles and passed 1,000 career points and 500 career boards this season.
She is the first WBCA All-American honoree since Kelsey Hutchins was an honorable mention after the 2016-17 season. This is the eighth time that UNG has been recognized on the WBCA All-American list in program history as Sutton joins Jaymee Carnes, Mimi Hill, Stephanie Huffman, Cierra Jackson and Hutchins on the list. Carnes and Hutchins are each two-time honorees.
