Game Preview: The University of North Georgia men's soccer team opens the 2019 campaign with a pair of home matches, starting with a Friday night showdown with Lincoln Memorial before turning around to take on North Greenville Monday night under the lights at the UNG Soccer Complex.

Promotions: Friday's game will serve as the Tom C. Montgomery Scholarship Presentation with the short ceremony taking place at halftime. Monday is the annual PK's vs. Nigel game with fans having the opportunity to take penalty kicks against Nigel the Nighthawk at halftime for a chance to win some prizes.

Follow Live: Nighthawk fans not able to make it to the UNG Soccer Complex can follow along through streaming on YouTube and Facebook, local cable television (Windstream cable channels 78.12 and HD channel 890), live statistics on UNGAthletics.com and on all social media platforms. Fans can also follow the action through Twitter by following the women's soccer team (@UNGMSOC).

Last Season: North Georgia finished in the top three in the PBC standings for the third year in a row in 2018, finishing with a 7-6-2 record and 4-3 mark in conference play.

Lincoln Memorial: Lincoln Memorial was picked to finish sixth in the South Atlantic Conference this season after finishing 8-4-4 a year ago. The Railsplitters have a new man at the helm in Robert Spain, who makes his way to Harrogate after a two-year stint with the MLS-affiliated Columbus Crew, where he served as the head academy scout. North Georgia is 1-4 against LMU all-time, losing four straight after winning the first ever matchup between the two schools back in 2011. Last season, the Railsplitters jumped out to a 2-0 lead before winning, 4-2.

North Greenville: North Greenville went 6-9-1 a year ago and will open the season Friday night at home against Carson-Newman before making their way to Dahlonega Monday night. The Crusaders were picked in a tie for ninth place in the Conference Carolinas preseason poll, tied with Erskine. The Nighthawks and Crusaders have split the only two matches in the short history of the matchup with both teams winning on the road. UNG won back in 2007 by a 2-0 score line before NGU won 3-2 in Dahlonega in 2017.

Preseason Accolades: UNG was picked to finish in third place for the third consecutive year as voted on by the league's head coaches.

Full of Returners: The Nighthawks return six seniors for 2019, including All-Conference forward Eren Ozer. Also returning are seniors Evan Davis and Jordan Day, both of whom were named to the Preseason All-Conference team.

Program History: North Georgia looks to win back-to-back home openers for the first time since defeating Lenoir-Rhyne (2010) and SCAD (2011) by 2-1 score lines.
