Game Preview: The University of North Georgia women's soccer team will open the 2019 season with a pair of non-conference matchups, starting with the home opener Thursday against Limestone. The Nighthawks will then hit the road to take on West Georgia Saturday afternoon.

Follow Live: Nighthawk fans not able to make it to the UNG Soccer Complex Thursday can follow along through streaming on YouTube and Facebook, local cable television (Windstream cable channels 78.12 and HD channel 890), live statistics on UNGAthletics.com and on all social media platforms. Links for the West Georgia match can be found above or on the women's soccer schedule page. Fans can also follow the action through Twitter by following the women's soccer team (@UNGWSOC).

Last Season: North Georgia finished the 2018 season in a tie for fourth in the league standings, winning six or more conference games for the 10th year in a row. The Nighthawks were second in the PBC in scoring average at 2.75 goals per game and led the league in shots per game.

Limestone: North Georgia is 4-0-1 against Limestone all-time. Last time out, the Nighthawks defeated the then-No. 18 Saints a year ago, 3-1, in Gaffney, South Carolina. UNG has yet to concede a goal against Limestone at home in the series.

West Georgia: The Nighthawks are 6-0-1 against West Georgia in the head-to-head matchup between the two schools with UNG going a perfect 4-0 in Carrollton. North Georgia won 2-0 last season, a year after squeaking out a 3-2 double overtime win at West Georgia.

Preseason Accolades: For the fifth straight year, UNG was picked to finish in the top three in the preseason Peach Belt poll as the Nighthawks came in at No. 3 as voted on by the league's coaches. Columbus State was picked to finish first, followed by Flagler.

Full of Returners: The 2019 team welcomes back 15 players and seven starters from last year, including senior Olivia Dumphy and junior Taylor Malasek, both of whom were named Preseason All-Conference.

Program History: North Georgia has won four of the last five season openers and hasn't lost a home opener since 2010. UNG has had 10 straight seasons with 10 or more wins, dating back to a 10-5-2 season back in 2009. North Georgia has also finished above .500 in league play in every season since 2008.
