Kirkland Wins 400 Meter Hurdles, Williams Named Coach of the Year

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Abigail Kirkland won the 400 meter hurdles for the second straight year and Tom Williams was named Coach of the Year for the women's teams as the University of North Georgia track & field team finished in fifth place at the Peach Belt Conference Championships.

Kirkland ran a 1:03.89 to claim her second conference championship in the event to highlight her day. She finished runner up in the 400 meter dash with a 56.87 and was part of the 4x400 meter relay team that finished in third place.

Aleah Johnson finished in fifth in the 400 meter race and third in the 800 meter. Imani Arnold was fourth in the 800, sixth in the 400 and fifth in the high jump.

Williams earned his first track & field Coach of the Year honor. He has been named Coach of the Year in cross country twice prior. Elise Glorvigen was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
